Independence
Editorial decisions are made without input from advertisers or affiliate partners. Partners do not see content before publication, do not approve it, and have no right of review. No partner has ever been given a rating, a ranking position, or a favourable description in exchange for payment, and no arrangement that would require it will be accepted.
If a partner asks for a change, it gets treated exactly like any other correction request: we check whether the fact is right. If it is right, it stays.
Sourcing
Every factual claim about a rate, fee or product term must be traceable to a primary source — the institution's own disclosure, a federal dataset, or a regulator's filing. Secondary sources may be used for context but not as the basis for a number. Where a claim cannot be sourced, it does not get published.
Sources and collection schedules are documented on the methodology page.
Review process
Content is written, then reviewed by a second person before publication. Review checks the numbers against their sources, checks that the piece does not overstate what the data supports, and checks that any commercial relationship is disclosed. Published content is re-reviewed on a schedule, and the review date appears at the foot of the page.
Use of AI
We use automated tools to draft and update parts of this site, particularly data-driven pages that summarise rate tables. Every piece of that content passes through human review before publication, and the source data behind it is machine-verified against our database rather than generated. No page is published on the strength of a model's output alone.
Where a page is substantially generated from data, it is only published if the underlying data is materially different from other pages — the check described on the methodology page. We would rather publish fifty pages that say something than five hundred that do not.
Corrections and updates
Errors get corrected promptly. Material corrections — anything that would change a reader's decision — are noted on the page itself rather than silently patched. Routine rate updates are not annotated, because rates changing is the normal operation of the site, not a correction.
To report an error, write to hello@rateintelusa.com with the page URL and what is wrong. We answer correction reports.
Not financial advice
Everything on this site is general information about publicly available financial products. It is not personalised advice and does not account for your circumstances, tax position or goals. We do not know your situation and cannot tell you what to do with your money.
Conflicts of interest
Staff who write about a product are not permitted to hold a financial interest in the outcome of that coverage beyond ordinary consumer accounts. Where a writer holds an account at an institution they are covering, it is disclosed to the editor and does not affect the rating, which is derived from the data in any case.
